Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) according to the World Health Organization.

Like other coronaviruses, it has come from animals – possibly seafood. New and troubling viruses usually originate in animal hosts. Ebola and flu are examples.

The first cases of Sars were in China in late 2002.

The World Health Organization said there are multiple known coronaviruses circulating in animals that have not yet been transmitted to humans.

While the virus originated in China, cases have also been reported in Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and now the United States. All the deaths have been in China.

There are fears that the coronavirus may spread more widely during the lunar New Year holidays, which start on 24 January, when millions of people travel home to celebrate this festival.

The symptom of Coronavirus.

The Initial symptoms of the novel coronavirus are mainly fever, health officials said, with some experiencing coughing, tightness of the chest and breathing difficulties. Scans on some patients have shown fluid in the lungs consistent with viral pneumonia.

 it appears that people in poor health are at greatest risk, as is always the case with flu.
